Are you a calm, resilient, and compassionate individual passionate about supporting children and young people with behavioural and emotional needs? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join a supportive and inclusive school community in Dorchester, starting January 2026.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who may present challenging behaviour, often linked to SEMH, ADHD, trauma, or additional learning needs. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in behaviour support, SEN, mental health, or care settings.
Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to pupils.
* Support pupils with emotional regulation, de-escalation strategies, and positive behaviour.
* Assist in implementing behaviour plans, risk assessments, and individual support strategies.
* Help create a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
* Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
* Follow safeguarding procedures, behaviour policies, and school policies at all times.
Requirements:
* Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or SEMH needs is desirable.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to managing behaviour.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude towards support.
