The job itself
A vacancy has arisen within the internal Highways Team for an Assistant Operations Manager, based at the Market Weighton Depot. We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our successful team and support the delivery of a wide range of projects, from small-scale maintenance works to larger highway construction schemes.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in the leadership and supervision of teams within the construction industry, ideally within the Highways sector. Applicants should also have strong organisational skills, up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, and the ability to forward-plan for upcoming schemes. This includes interpreting site drawings, understanding and completion of pricing and valuation information, the requirements of work permits and traffic management, and the completing prime documents.
In this role, you will directly manage front-line Roadworks teams and contractors involved in reactive highway works. You will also be responsible for planning larger construction and paving schemes, ensuring high standards, quality delivery and best value for money at all times. This will involve creating and managing a works programme, producing technical reports on progress, financial performance and overall delivery.
