GENERAL MANAGER - THE CAUSE
The Cause is an award-winning, fully independent multi-venue dance music institution. We are a vital part of London’s nightlife ecosystem and we pride ourselves in supporting charitable causes and championing underground dance music. Whilst maintaining the ethos of The Cause and providing a platform for electronic artists to continue playing through the pandemic, through ventures such as Costa Del Tottenham, The Greyhound and All My Friend, provided a wider portfolio of entertainment, varying from food, comedy, cabaret, live music and DJ events.
Having secured new spaces for us to operate across London, we are recruiting for a variety of senior management positions to help manage the operations of the spaces, develop and grow the team and move the business forward.

THE ROLE
The General Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering short, medium and long term strategies to mitigate challenges and ensure the full commercial potential of the business. You will lead the business’ bar team and be the line manager for the Assistant Managers, Bar Supervisors and wider bar and floor staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversee the management of and maintain the security of the venue's operational safety
* Assist with the management of all aspects of the bar operations for both front and back of house
* Ensure the bar management team maintains high standards at all times, implementing SOPs to maintain consistency. Work with the bar management team to ensure they are effectively resourcing the bar adequately to meet business demands whilst achieving financial goals
* Oversee the food safety, health and safety standards and meet requirements at all times
* Oversee the management of stock and the supplies to ensure they are maintained to an agreed level, waste is minimised and stock costs are within target percentages of turnover
* Oversee the sourcing, negotiation and ordering with all suppliers and contractors, including any sponsorship / retro or listings deals, saving money wherever possible and adding value with new products
* Be responsible for all paperwork and administrative duties produced by the bar management team; including staff scheduling, reconciling invoices, stock control and HR requirements
* Oversee the rota ensuring staff ratios are managed in line with demand whilst managing payroll costs
* Oversee all staff training & development of the wider bar team, with the support of the bar management team and HR. Always looking to promote from within and encourage growth within the team
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Must Have
* Significant management experience at a senior level (3+ Years) within a hospitality venue (preferably in event spaces & high-volume bars).
* High level of proficiency with admin based computer programs such as; Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
* Experience in scheduling softwares like or similar to Deputy, Rotaready
* Great understanding of Stock Control; GP’s, stocktakes, deliveries, audits, line-checks & reconciliation
* A leadership style that is engaging, confident and proactive in a fast-paced environment that's unpredictable and constantly changing. To be responsible for a team of up to 50 staff & external contractors. The ability to remain calm under pressure.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of alcohol service and food safety legislation
* Bring fresh ideas and provide a wider industry perspective to the business, whilst working proactively, and with integrity at all times.
* Able to work weekends, public holidays and late night hours.
* Experience in incident response; managing police, licensing enforcement, council visits
SALARY
* Up to £45,000 (dependant on experience)
* 48 Hour Week Salary
