Post Title: Performance Analyst, NARSU – NPCC Economic Crime Portfolio
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract – initially to 31/03/2026 with an expectation to be extended to 31/03/2029 pending further funding.

Salary: £36,040 plus London weighting of £6,710
Directorate/department: NLF – NARSU
Vetting level required: MV/SC
Location: Guildhall Yard East/Agile/Hybrid

This role is open to all Police Staff / external candidates who meet the essential criteria of the person spec, regardless of current grade.

About The Team

The NPCC Economic Crime Portfolio focuses on Anti Money Laundering and Asset Recovery (AMLAR). The aim is to enhance the UK Police enforcement response by improving skills, capacity and technology to prevent, detect and disrupt money laundering activities.

AMLAR portfolio includes the National Asset Recovery Support Unit (NARSU) who are helping develop systems and processes across policing to improve asset recovery and the National Intelligence development Team (NIDT), who develops money laundering intelligence so focused criminals investigations can be progressed.


About The Role

To work within NARSU and support the wider AMLAR team to develop and report on performance requirements, to enable improved systems and processes in an ever-growing team and across the national AMLAR environment.

The post works closely with and supports the linked AMLAR intelligence analysts where required.


Responsibilities

* Collate, evaluate and analyse information from a variety of internal and external sources, producing high quality analytical products, contributing to the development of strategies and identification of enforcement, disruption, prevention and performance improvement opportunities.
* Applying analytical techniques, to develop statistical tools and procedures for service monitoring, including trend analysis and forecasting. An ability to analyse, summarise and present service data in formats that fulfil a variety of internal and external requirements.
* Assisting the AMLAR and wider Lead Force Team with audits and reviews, including the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance frameworks.
* Performing audits and reviews and identifying quality assurance concerns, with suitable recommendations on both internal and external data sources.
* Monitoring, analysing and reporting problem areas, and identifying strategies to address areas of concern.
* Conducting random quality assurance testing of services to determine quality of service and developing corrective action plans if services are not meeting expected outcomes.
* Working in partnership with law enforcement and key stakeholders as required.
* As appropriate, to maximise intelligence sharing opportunities to develop the unit’s capability, as well as informing stakeholder initiatives/strategies.
* Assist in the effective management and maintenance of both manual and computerised recording systems.
* Assess the value of performance intelligence in line with the control strategy and intelligence requirements. Carry out further research and analysis when required to maximise intelligence value and determine the appropriate dissemination route.
* Organising and leading relevant, ad hoc services of the different functions within the AMLAR functions, monitor and deliver quality assurance surveys, analysis and recommendations to senior management.
* Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as reasonably requested by line management.


Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

* Excellent research and analytical skills to identify the required information to facilitate accurate performance assessments.
* Experience in database management and recording of investigative crime and intelligence would be an asset.
* Ability to manage and evaluate data to ascertain value and disseminate as appropriate in accordance with the correct handing guidance.
* Excellent report writing skills to provide key information in relation to the assessment decision that is both clear and auditable.
* Good decision-making skills and the ability to communicate decisions to stakeholder groups and effectively manage their expectations.
* Ability to present information in a clear and concise fashion.
* Ability to identify and adapt to changing priorities.
* Proven and current skills in the use of i2 analyst notebook or ability to learn.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The ability to use a wide variety of open and closed source databases, PND/PNC is desirable.
* A good knowledge of quality assurance, outcomes measurement processes and methodologies is desirable.
* Previous experience with implementation of quality assurance program would be an asset.
* A detailed knowledge of police strategies and policies is desirable.
* Experience within a Police/law enforcement environment, within Intelligence/Crime background is desirable.
* Management experience of the production of crime and intelligence products and cross agency working (e.g. across police, other law enforcement, other government and private sector organisations) is desirable.
