We are seeking a caring, patient, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Leatherhead, starting ASAP. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision, supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties. Staff work closely as a team, supported by an experienced SENCO and leadership team who prioritise pupil wellbeing and staff development.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis. You will help pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and build confidence, while promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN
* Support pupils with academic tasks across the curriculum
* Assist with the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times
* Monitor, record, and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
* Encourage social interaction and communication skills
* Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
* Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
