Clinical Support Worker - Higher Level

The post holder will provide service support to the Cardiac Physiologists within the Cardiology Department. The main purpose of the Cardiology Department is to perform cardiac investigations with promptness, accuracy, and thoroughness on patients with known or suspected heart disease and to do this in such a way as to provide excellent patient care.
The post holder will assist staff and patients within the Cardiology Department by transferring patients to and from the unit, acting in a chaperone capacity and helping to maintain an efficient, professional, and patient‑centred service and providing an ECG recording service for both in‑ and outpatients primarily on The Friarage Hospital site.
There may be a requirement to provide cover at other sites within University Hospitals Tees from time to time.
The role also involves general administration duties such as booking appointments, reception cover, notes, and clinic preparation along with the distribution of results.
We are looking for someone who has the ability to work within a team and has the ability to use their own initiative in prioritising patient care and other health related activity that has been delegated to them.
The post holder need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
A caring attitude towards both patients and colleagues is essential.
The post holder also requires the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing situation, drawing on transferable skills to deal with the unexpected.
Main duties of the job
The Cardiology team at the Friarage Hospital is small, friendly and supportive. We work together to provide high quality patient care and a happy working environment.
There is an emphasis on providing good quality care to the local population, many of whom are elderly. As we serve a large geographical area, with patients often travelling long distances for appointments, we make every effort to minimise visits, making multiple appointments on the same day.
Although we are a small team, we benefit from close links with the tertiary cardiology service at the James Cook University Hospital, sharing expertise, training and occupational standards.
Successful applicant will:
* Provide service support to the Cardiac Physiologists within the Cardiology Department.
* Perform 12‑lead ECGs.
* Perform basic patient observations.
* Provide general administration duties, including reception cover, appointment booking, notes and clinic preparation, test result distribution.
* Assist staff and patients within the Cardiology Department by transferring patients to and from the unit.
* Act as a chaperone.
* Perform fitting/downloading ambulatory monitors.
There may be the occasional requirement to provide cover on other sites within the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English. Level 2 literacy and numeracy would be an acceptable alternative to GCSE Maths and English.
* NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant area.
* Holds SCST certificate in Electrocardiography (ECG) or is working towards completion within 12 months of employment.
Knowledge & Skills
* Basic computer literacy
* Good organisational/time management skills
* Ability to work well within a team to provide high quality patient care.
* Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles of communication.
Experience
* Recent experience in information technology.
* Experience of working with patients in a healthcare environment.
* Experience of hospital IT systems.
