The Bar Manager is the driving force behind our beverage program, responsible for leading all facets of the bar's operation to ensure outstanding guest experiences, staff excellence, and consistent profitability. This role is crucial for maintaining the bar's unique atmosphere, quality standards, and compliance while steering the team to deliver service that keeps our patrons coming back.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Beverage Program & Financial Management
Performance & Profitability: Manage key operational metrics to ensure the bar meets its targets for revenue, profitability, and cost control. This includes meticulous oversight of inventory management, cost of goods sold (COGS), and waste reduction. You will contribute to budget forecasting and financial reporting specific to the bar. Program Curation: Design, implement, and maintain the cocktail, spirits, wine, and beer menus. This requires staying ahead of industry trends, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring all offerings align with the brand's vision for quality and innovation. Process Control: Develop and implement operational procedures that ensure speed, efficiency, and consistency in drink preparation and service. You will be responsible for accurate cash handling, stock reconciliation, and maintaining organized back-of-house systems.
1. Team Leadership & Development
Staff Management & Expertise: Play a central role in hiring, training, and managing the bar staff (bartenders, bar-backs, etc.). You will be responsible for creating a positive, dynamic work environment, fostering continuous product knowledge development, and managing scheduling and performance in accordance with company policy. Service Excellence: Inspire and guide the team to deliver exceptional, personalized service. This includes training staff on service standards, drink knowledge, upselling techniques, and problem resolution. You will monitor service delivery and implement initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction at the bar. Communication & Coaching: Facilitate clear and consistent communication between the bar team, floor staff, and management. You will conduct regular pre-shift meetings, provide constructive feedback, and champion a culture of professionalism and teamwork.
1. Quality Control, Standards & Compliance
Quality Assurance: Uphold and enforce all quality standards for drink preparation, presentation, and service. This includes maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and high aesthetic standard of the bar area and all equipment. Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to all local and state regulations concerning alcohol service (e.g., responsible beverage service, age verification) and workplace safety. You will be responsible for staff certification and maintaining a safe, compliant operational environment. Experience & Atmosphere: Act as the leader in driving the bar's atmosphere and customer experience. This involves proactively engaging with guests, identifying opportunities to exceed expectations, and responding promptly to feedback to build return custom.
