Responsibilities
* Work closely with the management team to deliver a safe, efficient, and quality‑driven service to patients.
* Lead on improvement projects, develop the service, and oversee the successful installation of new equipment across the department.
* Perform, allocate, and supervise tasks required for the delivery of a fit‑for‑purpose medical laboratory service.
* Analyse and select clinical samples to provide a diagnostic service, achieving efficient and effective patient care and resource management across the CWPS Network at the UHCW and SWFT sites.
Scope of Specimens
Breadth of specimens are defined but not limited to categories RCpath A‑C, which have routine specimens and are covered by detailed SOPs. The candidate should understand the limits of their practice, know when to forward cases to pathologists or specialist scientific leads, and may receive training in D and E specimens if working towards the Advanced Specialist diploma.
Qualifications
* HCPC registration.
* Experience at band 6 (at least) in dissection.
* For Trainee Dissection BMS: experience at band 6 and in dissection but not yet hold the IBMS DEP; paid at AFC band 6.
* For Senior Dissection BMS: hold the IBMS DEP for dissection and will be paid at AFC band 7.
