We Build Recruitment are now looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client, a Liverpool-based property developer specialising in residential and purpose-built student accommodation across the North West of England. The company manages the full development lifecycle, from site acquisition and planning through to construction delivery and handover, working closely with professional teams, contractors and investors.
With a growing portfolio of city-centre and suburban developments, they are seeking a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of multiple projects.
Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in the commercial management of development projects, from pre-construction through to final account. The role will involve close collaboration with project managers, consultants, contractors and senior management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to commercial expectations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working within a developer environment and managing multiple residential and student accommodation schemes
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Cost Management
* Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash flows
* Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle and report variances
* Manage value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
* Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and investors
Procurement & Contract Administration
* Assist with procurement strategies and tendering processes
* Review and analyse contractor tenders and make recommendations
* Prepare and manage contracts, including JCT forms
* Administer valuations, variations and change control procedures
Construction Phase Support
* Manage interim valuations, payment applications and cost reporting
* Assess and agree variations and claims
* Liaise with site teams, contractors and consultants to resolve commercial issues
* Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial obligations
Final Accounts & Reporting
* Agree and close final accounts with contractors and consultants
* Prepare post-project cost reports and lessons learned
* Support funding drawdowns and lender reporting where required
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* Experience working on residential and/or student accommodation projects
* Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
* Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to completion
* Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical skills
* Confident communicator, able to work with multiple stakeholders
* Proficient in MS Excel and cost reporting tools
Desirable
-Experience working for a property developer or main contractor
-Knowledge of refurbishment, conversion and new-build projects
-MRICS or working toward professional accreditation
-Experience supporting investor or funder reporting
