About the role:
The Data Infrastructure Engineer centres around designing, developing and maintaining data infrastructure components and services within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) based on the best practices described in the "Google Cloud Architecture Framework". This includes designing and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code modules and standalone services to automate:
1. Provisioning of GCP resources
2. RBAC / ABAC management for data resources
3. Access control (IAM) for GCP projects
4. Templates for common use cases
5. Monitoring and management of data products
More specifically you will:
6. Be an subject matter expert in Infrastructure-as-Code (specifically, in Terraform and GCP)
7. Participate in the development of tools that are aimed at abstracting and managing infrastructure which are able to integrate with a variety of services / applications.
8. Design, implement and maintain processes and automations to simplify the provisioning, permissioning and configuration of data infrastructure end-to-end (resources, services and workloads).
9. Champion efficient data infrastructure practices measured through low turnaround times and support for most use cases.
10. Contribute to the development of data solutions as an infrastructure SME
What were looking for:
11. You have coding proficiency in Python
12. You have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in designing, maintaining, automating Cloud Infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform
13. You have experience working with infrastructure as code - Terraform (preferred), AWS CloudFormation, or similar
14. You have experience managing data resources in GCP or AWS
15. You have experience using Docker
16. An understanding of cloud security best practices
17. Working knowledge of DevOps best practices
18. Comfortable with ambiguity, both technically and organisationally. Favours pragmatism and is focused on quick outputs to learn fast and iterate.
