To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning, and assessment. Enthusing students by making the subject content relevant and current with a strong link to employers and the local economy. You will be required to monitor each student’s academic performance and provide feedback for improvements, supervise and motivate students to achieve their academic and personal goals. We offer GCSE resits and functional skills alongside a range of vocational courses at L1, L2, and L3. Our cohort is mainly a mixture of 16-18-year-olds, but we also offer evening class GCSE and functional skills to adult learners as standalone qualifications. Applications from NQTs are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College, ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life.
2. Contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and engage in the annual review.
3. Stay informed of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills annually.
4. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively.
5. Use a range of effective teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students, encouraging independence and autonomy.
6. Create a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued.
7. Establish procedures with students to promote appropriate behavior, communication, and respect, while challenging discriminatory attitudes.
8. Set, mark, and record work in line with College and School Assessment policies.
9. Track students’ progress and attendance according to College systems and policies.
10. Provide a balanced mix of teaching styles and learning experiences.
11. Be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and participate in their implementation.
12. Evaluate and improve communication skills to maximize effectiveness and overcome barriers.
13. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean in designing programmes and teaching approaches to achieve high standards and added value.
14. Assist in administrative tasks supporting teaching, learning, and assessment within the subject area.
15. Work with colleagues to identify and develop additional Digital, English, and Maths skills within the subject area.
16. Review professional development needs and participate in training and development activities.
17. Communicate with parents, carers, and students through events like Parents’ Evenings and open days.
18. Ensure compliance with College policies and procedures among students.
19. Provide engaging enrichment opportunities to motivate students and enhance their experience.
20. Support learners with well-prepared VLE resources for independent study.
21. Recognize and address the diverse needs of learners to ensure progress.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential:
* Educated to Level 4 (Degree or equivalent) in a related field.
* Recent successful teaching experience with 11-18-year-olds.
* Excellent computer skills and familiarity with current college IT programs.
* Experience in curriculum planning, development, and delivery.
* Knowledge of GCSE English delivery.
* Engaged in Continuing Professional Development.
* Minimum Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to set high standards and provide constructive feedback.
* Experience using ICT to support teaching.
* Outstanding student-centered teaching approach.
Desirable:
* A recognised teaching qualification.
* Understanding of value-added progress measures.
* Knowledge of curriculum development for employer training needs.
* Experience with functional skills verification and standardization.
