We are looking for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Worker to join our amazing Elder Street Team in Tranent, East Lothian.
Elder Street is a community based mental health rehabilitation service for individuals with complex mental health needs. Penumbra offer 24 hour tailored person centred support, supported living and community rehabilitation. Support delivered at Elder Street may be practical and emotional to help individuals to lead an ordinary and fulfilling life in the community.
At Elder Street, Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioners (MHWPs) play a central role in delivering and supervising the team to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused support to individuals with complex mental health needs. The service provides a safe, supportive, and rehabilitative environment for up to six residents, with a strong emphasis on empowerment, independence, and community integration.
As a MHWP, you will:
1. Provide one-to-one and group-based support tailored to individual recovery goals.
2. Use your lived or professional experience to build trusting, empathetic relationships.
3. Support individuals in developing life skills, managing routines, and engaging with their communities.
4. Work closely with health and social care professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
5. Ensure that support is delivered in line with Penumbra’s values of Compassion, Courage, Curiosity, and Collaboration.
This role requires strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to model professional conduct. Experience in mental health support is essential.
