Overview
Remote Consultation Bank Advanced Practitioner (Urgent & Primary Care) – an opportunity with the Scottish Ambulance Service, NHS Scotland. This post supports the Remote Consultation aspect of the SAS Advanced Practitioner group, providing virtual patient consultations and professional support for other clinicians on behalf of the SAS.
Responsibilities
* Provide virtual patient consultation and professional support for other clinicians on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
* Deliver high-level, independent decision-making, including assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment including prescribing, for patients with complex multidimensional needs.
* Work within a defined scope of practice to deliver advanced care remotely, including signposting to partner organisations, referral to established community pathways, or self-care advice by phone or video.
* Support the Remote Consultation component of the rotational model for Advanced Practitioners within SAS.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Paramedic or NMC registered Nurse.
* Minimum of SCQF level 11 Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice (including V300 prescribing).
* Evidence of completion of an appropriate Advanced Practice Competency Framework.
* Significant clinical practice in primary/urgent/emergency care, including at least 1 year at an Advanced Practice level.
* Evidence of ongoing employment within relevant settings.
* Ad-hoc hours are available and will be paid at the hourly rate for the relevant point on Band 7.
Dates and process
* Assessment day: 23 and 24 September 2025 (via MS Teams).
* Start dates and induction: IT systems training and remote consultation training on 23/24 October 2025 and 4/5 November 2025.
* Assessment and interviews will be held remotely.
Working arrangements
Hours are offered on an ad-hoc basis. This bank post is specifically for the Remote Consultation aspect of the Advanced Practitioner in Urgent & Primary Care role; some elements of the full job description will not be part of this role.

To work in the United Kingdom, you must have permission to work in the country. This permission is granted by the UK Visas and Immigration Service. NHS Scotland Boards will check entitlement to work in the UK as part of pre-employment checks. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship, as SAS is not licensed to issue certificates of sponsorship under current UKVI regulations.
