Job Profile Summary
To participate in all aspects of underwriting and effective operation of Chaucer's Renewable Power & Energy business as directed.
Job Description
* Underwrite new and renewal risks and approve endorsements / amendments as required in accordance with the Group, Syndicate and Divisional business plan, strategy, Underwriting Controls and Guidelines & Compliance requirements and agreed underwriting authority.
* Assist Renewable Power Class Underwriter(s) / Divisional Head in the development of long-term strategy for Renewable Power & Energy and related business across all platforms and Chaucer hubs.
* Perform slip and rating analysis and undertake premium monitoring.
* Perform PML and aggregation analysis in conjunction with the Exposure Management team.
* Monitor risks written and due for renewal, developing a list of target accounts.
* Ensure the accuracy and upkeep of all written premium data on the proprietary policy administration system for all risks written within the area of responsibility.
* Prepare reports and statistical information as required.
* Assist with the development and enhancement of underwriting systems, including new or improved rate/premium benchmarking models.
* Maintain and develop relationships with brokers to ensure a good flow of new and renewal business that aligns with strategic appetite, enhancing Chaucer's brand and market profile.
* Build and maintain relationships with customers to understand their needs, aid in risk retention, and target new business, including travel as needed.
* Contribute to developing Chaucer's market profile, especially in Renewable Power & Energy, aiming for a market-leading position.
* Attend market risk presentations and relevant meetings.
* Assist with the outward Reinsurance programme, including meetings with Reinsurers.
* Stay updated on Renewable Power & Energy industry developments to maintain technical knowledge.
* Support relationships across the Energy Division and other Chaucer divisions and international offices.
* Ensure timely and accurate administrative processing and peer review of risks.
* Strive to achieve personal objectives set by the Line Manager.
Regulatory Responsibilities
Comply with all policies and procedures, focusing on good customer outcomes and fair treatment of customers.
Manage relationships with Customers, Agents, and Service Providers:
* Advise, assist, and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote satisfaction.
* Foster positive relationships and understand customer needs.
* Promptly identify, record, and refer Customer Complaints as appropriate.
* Complete annual product review assessments on time, with approvals recorded.
* Follow Chaucer Group Product Governance processes and obtain necessary approvals.
* Uphold principles of good customer outcomes and fair treatment by Agents and Service Providers.
Skills and Competencies
* Relevant insurance experience in the Energy industry.
* Underwriting experience in Lloyd's & London Market.
* Experience in Renewable Power industry.
* Intermediate Word and Excel skills.
* High numeracy level.
* Good analytical skills.
* Familiarity with exposure management tools.
* Organized, able to work under tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
* Effective communication skills and adaptability.
* Resilient in pressured environments.
* Team player.
Education
* ACII qualified or nearing completion.
