Job Description:
Department
The Product Control Department is responsible for the validation and publication of a Trading Profit and Loss (P&L) for every EDF Trading desk on a daily basis. This includes agreement with the trading desk and providing a written explanation of the P&L movement. Additionally, a consolidated P&L is produced and distributed to management, including monitoring of EDFT stop-loss limits. Other responsibilities include:
* Curve validation against external sources
* Monitoring futures reconciliations
* Monitoring inter-company balances
* Preparing various month-end reports and reconciliations for Financial Control and Treasury
* Preparing daily summaries of price moves and position purposes
The candidate will work within the Product Control team and will be responsible for P&L production for specific business units involving various commodities. They will interact with the Front Office and other departments daily to ensure accurate P&L reporting and understanding of key market drivers. The role also involves producing month-end and audit deliverables, and working on small ad hoc projects to support the wider team and business growth.
Experience required
* A background in middle office, product control, or risk management within energy trading or investment banking
* Minimum of 2 years experience in profit & loss analysis
* Knowledge of commodities
* Knowledge of derivatives, including options, swaps, and futures
* Experience manipulating data sets using tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI (desirable)
Technical requirements
* Strong academic background, ideally in a quantitative subject
* Accounting qualification (or part-qualified) or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of Alteryx, Python, or Excel VBA (desirable)
