A unique opportunity has arisen at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for an experienced, dynamic person to join our department as part of the senior team. The department has a busy, friendly team of staff who provide a Neurophysiology service across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
We are looking for an experienced Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist who is enthusiastic, organised and well-motivated with proven technical and communication skills and a zest for providing excellence.
The post holder is expected to have excellent leadership qualities, preferably with management/supervision experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate will be able to perform the full range of Neurophysiological investigations and will have experience in performing and reporting peripheral nerve studies.
The post holder will deputise for the Clinical Service Manager and will work closely with the Consultant Neurophysiologists, Consultant Neurosurgeons and the Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologists to provide a high quality service
The job is based at Royal Preston Hospital but a need to work at other hospitals is a possibility.

Main duties of the job
1. To work effectively and efficiently as part of the Senior Management team of Neurophysiology to provide a high quality service to patients attending the Neurophysiology Department of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
2. Undertake specialist and advanced clinical physiological tests in Neurophysiology and other hospital areas on site, as well as portable investigations at other hospitals in the region; analyse recorded data & test results, provide verbal and written factual reports and advise clinicians.
3. To provide a specialised clinical neurophysiology service to patients from a range of specialities, including neonates, suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders both in and outside of a dedicated neurophysiology environment.
4. To perform the investigations specified in line with department procedures to the expected department standards.
5. Participate in CPD, audit and research.
6. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with other staff on a daily basis to ensure the service needs are met by planning and prioritising own and departmental workload
7. Undertake training of other staff from both within and outside the department.
8. In conjunction with other HSCPs deputise for the Clinical Service Manager

Qualifications
Essential criteria
17. BSc Hons Clinical Neurophysiology, STP or equivalent formal specialist training
18. ECNE parts I and II or specialist knowledge in practical and theoretical Neurophysiology
19. RCCP registration or equivalent.
20. Up-to-date Continual professional development folder
Desirable criteria
21. ANS Membership
22. Management Qualification
23. Work based assessor/mentor qualification
24. Post graduate studies in a relevant field or willingness to do this
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
25. Experience and evidence of intra operative neurophysiological monitoring in the operating theatre environment
26. Able to demonstrate knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through accredited courses or equivalent experience
27. Able to perform all investigations listed on the job description and provide evidence of competence
28. Evidence of teaching junior technicians
29. Have evidence of participation in audit

31. Evidence of underpinning knowledge of more specialist skills
32. Evidence of published articles
