Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shift pattern: 2 on 4 off (incl Sleeps)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a beautiful three bedded residential home for children and young people within the Stoke-on-Trent area. You will be joining an amazing organisation who provides safe and secure homes, therapy and education for children and young people aged 8-17. Offering long term placements where children and young people receive a high level of nurturing and therapeutic care, children and young people are supported to attend school and activities and are instilled with confidence and life skills, aiming for the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
Senior Residential Support Worker key responsibilities:
The role of a Senior Residential Support Worker is to share in creating a purposeful, caring, therapeutic, learning environment for young people, by the application of high professional standards of care and support for the young person's social, emotional and/or behavioural needs, and mental health and learning difficulties.
You will:
- provide support/advice for staff as required and manage the daily running of the team.
- support and deputise for deputy manager as and when required.
- carry out supervisions of individuals and support for key workers.
- manage monies for activities.
- manage the daily needs of the children.
- monitor and check staff they carry out their duties.
- take part in rostered sleep-in duties, as required.
- develop programmes that will improve children's progress and interaction.
- link programmes of study with national recognised vocational qualifications.
- work with the young people in a caring and nurturing manner developing relationships based on trust, confidence and understanding.
- assist in sustaining peer relationships within the home as well as promoting aspects of a young person's individual programme through growing personal resilience and empathy.
- plan with, join in with and encourage all young people in educational, recreational, occupational and social activities.
- work as "part of a team" and provide support and encouragement for colleagues as well as the young people and help build a strong child-focused team.
- work from your own initiative, in line with all: risk assessments, care plans and emotional and behavioural plans to progress the therapeutic goals of a child.
- help young people to develop their independent Living/Life Skills.
- prepare, implement and review programmes designed to aid a child's development and personalise their care plans.
- induct newly admitted young people, making them feel welcome and validated as important members of their new home.
- help plan and prepare young people when moving on from the home, for their future including balancing risk with opportunity.
Senior Residential Support Worker essential requirements:
- Hold Level 3 residential childcare or equivalent
- Hold at least 1 years’ experience working at senior level within a young person’s residential setting
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to vehicle
