The Epidemiology team works to enable high quality decision making that maximises population wellbeing. We do this by creating evidence-based actionable insights derived from the analysis of public health related data using data science techniques and methodologies. We also support population health initiatives through surveillance and reporting on emerging health trends. With the support of Senior Epidemiologists and the wider team, you will work on projects providing statistics and insights about health and wellbeing, contribute to recommendations for how services can better meet residents needs, and use data science methods to develop the analysis and presentation of evidence and insights.
Main duties of the job
* Provide responsive and high-quality statistical and analytical support to stakeholders within public health and wider across the health and care system.
* Support the delivery of complex analytical projects with guidance from Senior Epidemiologists and other colleagues, using R for data analysis and Git for collaboration and version control.
* Engage with stakeholders, including specialist and non-technical audiences, using verbal, written and visual communications to translate analytical findings into actionable insights.
* Carry out quality assurance of outputs and contribute to the development of methodologies for analysis and visualisations, helping to enhance the quality and impact of outputs.

Person Specification
Experience
* Essential skills:
* Evidence of working in epidemiology and public health data analytics.
* Postgraduate degree in a related topic or equivalent (~2+ years) of relevant work experience.
* Experience in a range of statistical methods.
* Ability to write reports and to clearly present insights from statistical analyses to a non-technical audience.
* Knowledge of R, Git and other open-source tools.
* Experience of project management and managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
* Understanding of health inequalities and population health.
* The ability to combine insights from data analytics with evidence from research and the wider literature.
* Knowledge about data protection and security.
* Evidence of sharing and promoting analytical outputs to a range of different stakeholders.
