Our Parish Finance Officer is pivotal to the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle which is the sixth largest Diocese in England and Wales, stretching the border with Scotland in the north and the River Tees in the south. We are committed to working with our Parish colleagues to ensure financial stewardship and fiscal provenance and as such you will be pivotal to assisting our Parishes on a day to day basis.
Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be responsible for:
(i) Providing financial guidance, training and support to Parish Clergy, employees and volunteers.
(ii) Collaborating with all stakeholders within the Diocese to foster strong relationships and facilitate the efficient flow of financial information.
(iii) Developing, implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard Diocesan assets and manage parish funds, conducting regular internal audits and health checks to ensure all parish income is used in line with the Diocesan Policies and Procedures and Charitable Objectives.
(iv) Working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure that all records, budgets and financial transactions and decisions support our ethos and strategic fiscal framework.
(v) Assisting the Finance Team on purchase and sales ledgers.
(vi) Aligning the objectives of the Diocesan Finance Department with the Diocesan Vision and Values.
(vii) Working closely with the Finance Manager and Management Accountant to create reports within the new financial accounting system.
To be successful in this role you will be part qualified CCAB, ACCA or CIMA or country equivalent, be well versed and have experience in budgeting and problem solving, analytical thinking and forecasting, decision making and project management. Furthermore, You will be the kind of person who is planned and organised and who acts with fidelity, is honest and has high ethical standards.
