An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Older PeoplesMental Health (OPMH) Directorate as a Ward Manager at Beech Ward.

Beech ward, based on the grounds of Torbay General Hospital, is a 16 bedded inpatient mental health ward supporting primarily older adultsabove the age of 65 with functional mental illnesses. It has been ratedoutstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
Main duties of the job
As a Ward Manager you will lead the nursing team inproviding high-quality care and support to older adults experiencing an acuteepisode of mental illness, while also supporting your colleagues and promotinggood teamwork.
You will empower recovery and deliversupervision to staff across the ward to deliver a high standard of healthcare. You will leadby example, acting as a positive role model to all members of the nursing team,working with the ward leadership team to create a caring and compassionateculture that provides high-quality, patient-centred care. Other duties include:
1. To provide leadership and management to the ward andclinical team
2. To provide evidenced based professional support and adviceto the multi-disciplinary team.
3. To lead and promote education and staff development for thecontinued professional growth of the team members and students.
4. To ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing care inaccordance with evidence based professional practice, policies and procedures.
5. Ensure legislation policies and procedures are implementedand staff has access to them and an understanding of their use.
6. Manages allocated budget ensuring resources areefficiently and effectively used and maintained.

7. A professional Mental Health Qualification (RMN/RNLD).
8. Evidence of Post Registration Education.
9. Teaching qualification/mentoring training.
10. Up to date knowledge of Older peoples Mental Health Functional and Younger Adults.
