Raytheon UK
At Raytheon UK, we take immense pride in being a leader in defence and aerospace technology. As an employer, we are dedicated to fuelling innovation, nurturing talent, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Joining our team means being part of an organisation that shapes the future of national security whilst investing in your growth and personal development. We provide a collaborative environment, abundant opportunities for professional development, and a profound sense of purpose in what we do. Together, we are not just advancing technology; we're building a community committed to safeguarding a safer and more connected world.
About the role:
This role delivers profitable growth. You’ll sit as part of the Services Leadership Team and make growth real across the Space & ISR, Training Transformation, Cyber & Intelligence mission areas. You’ll lead strategy development and with your team develop a pipeline of potential opportunities. You’ll select the right opportunities to pursue, craft winning strategies, and then win that business.
What you’ll do:
You’ll lead a cross-functional team that reaches across, and into, Space, Cyber, and Training mission areas. You’ll use proven RLPM (CRM) methodology to identify, develop, bid, and win new business; and to grow existing on contract business. The outcome will be clarity, alignment, and purpose across the services area for how we will achieve sustained profitable growth.
In practice, you will:
1. Mentor, support and line manage all Requirements and Capabilities team members in the Services area, and day to day lead the cross functional new business team – including PM, solution design, finance, and commercial colleagues.
2. Run one weekly session with pipeline owners from across services designed for decisions, not presentations, outcome is actions with owners, dates and practical progress.
3. Personally lead the most significant bids.
4. Establish and sustain excellent stakeholder engagement plans across the services business to enable development of pipeline opportunities.
5. Work hand‑in‑glove with Mission are leads, and RUK strategy leads to assure mission area strategies support delivery of Raytheon objectives. Mission area leads will view you as an enabler of their strategy, not as an additional layer of accountability or bureaucracy.
6. Partner with finance on LRP, NBI, and M&S so realistic metrics are set, risks and opportunities are managed, and the AOP is delivered.
How you’ll work:
You’ll keep the rhythm tight and transparent. Decisions happen in the room with the right people. You’ll favour co‑design over stove pipes, make single‑step decisions wherever possible, and escalate early when something blocks progress. You’ll accelerate existing processes, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and simplify wherever sensible – all in service of building a ‘real’ pipeline, and then converting that pipeline into profitable new business.
Who you’ll work with:
7. Raytheon UK R&C Executive Director. Your line manager.
8. Managing Director (Services). Strategy, priorities, cadence, accountability.
9. Services finance lead. Management of NBI, M&S, and LRP. R&Os for LRP.
10. Service Mission area leads (Space, Cyber, TTS, CTTP). Strategy alignment, stakeholder engagement, domain expertise.
11. Services R&C team. Day to day execution.
12. Services functional leadership. Opportunity evaluation, strategy execution, bid support.
13. RUK Associate Director Strategy. Strategy development and alignment.
What good looks like (KPIs)
We’ll measure a few things that matter and keep them visible:
14. Pipeline health: sustained growth in pipeline opportunities. Real opportunities that move forward.
15. Business Winning: Pipeline opportunities converting into wins. High quality bids submitted.
16. Relationships: Exemplar leader. Sustained positive feedback from stakeholders, team members and peers, measurable action on any improvement plan or development areas.
What you bring
17. Real Business Development experience
18. Leadership which motivates; customer insight; Stakeholder intimacy across primes and the Authority; you build trust quickly.
19. Crisp written and verbal communication; you simplify, decide, and move.
20. A track record of delivering executable capture plans which win.
Nice to have:
21. Domain knowledge in delivering services to public sector customers.
22. Security & compliance
23. You should be eligible for UK Security Check (SC and potentially DV) clearance and comfortable operating within MOD/Authority governance, including appropriate handling of commercial and technical artefacts.
