Base pay range
Salary: £40000 to £47000 per annum, experience dependant.
Location: Northallerton, Otley or Cumbria
Contract: Permanent, full-time, Monday – Friday

Overview
We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Engineering Geologist to support our Highways Geotechnical Department in delivering high-quality civil engineering projects across Yorkshire and the North of England at Align Property Services.
This role involves conducting geotechnical desk studies, geological ground modelling, risk assessments, and designing and supervising ground investigations, with travel required to sites. You’ll contribute to both concept and detailed geotechnical design, and optionally support construction supervision. Beyond technical work, you’ll help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, assist in developing team capabilities through training and CPD, and uphold safety standards across operations.
Responsibilities
* Conduct geotechnical desk studies, geological ground modelling, risk assessments, and design and supervise ground investigations.
* Travel to sites to support project delivery and supervise on-site activities.
* Contribute to concept and detailed geotechnical design and, where applicable, support construction supervision.
* Aid in delivering projects on time and within budget; assist in developing team capabilities through training and CPD.
* Uphold safety standards across operations.
Qualifications
* Ideally be a Chartered or near-Chartered Geologist.
* Experience in geotechnical design and with site experience at engineer level.
* Strong understanding of geology and ground modelling.
* Extensive knowledge of ground investigation techniques and their link to data acquisition and design.
* Experience in rock stability assessments and rock mass classification.
* Skilled in engineering geomorphology and slope stability analysis.
* Capable of terrain evaluation for both large-scale and site-specific areas.
* Competent in preparing and reviewing health & safety documentation.
* High-level expertise in ground investigation planning, supervision, and management as well as procurement and ICE-standard specification.
* Ability to manage complex programmes, budgets, and multi-disciplinary project interfaces.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Familiar with geotechnical aspects of civil engineering design and construction.
* Strong understanding of Eurocodes and relevant standards.
* Hold a Full UK Driving License.
