Entry level Assistant Driller / Site Labourer
Location: Newmarket, Cambridgeshire
Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a new Assistant Driller / Site Labourer based at our Newmarket facility. The role involves working across the UK on various sites and sectors, including manufacturing, petrochemical, and construction environments.
No previous land drilling experience is necessary as this is an entry-level role with potential for promotion to lead driller. The position requires someone who enjoys outdoor work in diverse site environments.
As an Assistant Driller, you will work in a two-person team supporting the Lead Driller to complete drilling projects across the UK and occasionally in Europe. Responsibilities include driving to sites, setting up and advancing boreholes with various drilling equipment, collecting samples, installing monitoring equipment, ensuring safety, following H&S procedures, and performing other duties. Training will be provided from day one, and you will be enrolled in an NVQ after your probation. Opportunities for further training, apprenticeships, and NVQs in Land Drilling are available for career progression.
Role accountabilities:
The role requires travel across the UK during the workweek and staying local to the drilling site from Monday to Friday. PPE, accommodation, and travel expenses are provided.
Note: Although most work involves away trips, daily commuting to the depot is required; candidates should reside within a reasonable commute from Newmarket.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Motivated individual who enjoys outdoor, hands-on work. Experience in labor-intensive roles such as military, construction, or agriculture is advantageous.
* Valid Category B driving license is essential; additional licenses (B+E, C1+E, or C) are preferred. Training will be provided after probation.
* Ability to stay away from home Monday-Friday. Accommodation, travel, and food allowances are provided.
* Basic IT skills.
* Beneficial but not mandatory: CSCS, SPA/PIA, Personal Track Safety (PTS). Training will be provided.
