Are you a passionate and inspiring Design Technology Teacher looking for a rewarding permanent role in a truly welcoming school environment?

Grade A is delighted to be supporting a brilliant secondary school in North Norfolk in their search for a dedicated Design Technology Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive department and contribute to a vibrant school community.

This is a permanent, full-time role, with part-time considered for the right candidate. We are looking for someone to start in September 2025, though a July 2025 start would also be welcomed for an early transition!

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality DT lessons to students across various key stages. You will foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for design and practical application. You will have the opportunity to work within a well-equipped department and contribute to the school’s continuous success.

Responsibilities:

1. Planning, preparing, and delivering exciting and effective Design Technology lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11), potentially including a specialism in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Textiles, or Food Technology.
2. Assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of assigned pupils.
3. Creating a positive, stimulating, and safe learning environment in practical workshops and classrooms.
4. Developing and implementing innovative teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
5. Contributing to the development and enhancement of the Design Technology curriculum. Managing and maintaining equipment and resources safely and effectively within the DT department.
6. Participating in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
7. Fostering strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, and actively engaging in the wider school community.

Requirements:

8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
9. A relevant Design Technology degree or a degree with a significant DT component.
10. Proven experience teaching Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a UK secondary school.
11. A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Design Technology and current pedagogical practices.
12. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
13. Passion for your subject and a genuine desire to develop students’ practical and creative skills.
14. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
15. Commitment to continuous professional development.
16. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
