Overview
Metallurgist / Materials Engineer – Peterborough. Salary: £35 - £36 PH Umbrella (Inside IR35). PAYE available too (£23 - £25 PH).
A Materials Engineer has become available with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machinery and bespoke systems. As a metallurgical / materials engineer within the business you will partner with and provide technical guidance to other teams. You will have the ability to gather relevant information, compare and contrast data, identify relationships, and predict and identify failures.
Responsibilities
* Support manufacturing facilities UK/Europe wide by investigating a wide range of materials in multiple applications.
* Resolve issues regarding design or manufacturing; ensure design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
* Participate in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
* Plan and improve testing procedures and operations to make tests more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.
* Monitor results, machine and process capabilities, and performance reliability.
* Collaborate with different units, suppliers and customers; communicate technical information concisely and accurately.
* Be accountable for identifying, analysing, and resolving needs in the Materials Engineering field; contribute as a highly proficient engineer within the field.
* Operate on complex analytical tasks with a major focus on technical delivery.
* Role location and contract: based in Peterborough; initial 12-month contract with potential for long-term, ongoing rolling contract; onsite 5 days per week.
Qualifications / Expertise
* Experience in physical testing and technology expertise.
* Metallic Materials Processing - Heat Treatment.
* Casting, Forging, etc.
* Non-Metallic Materials Processing - Injection moulding, Friction welding, Blow Forming, Elastomer Processing, etc.
* Failure analysis for Metallic and/or Non-metallic materials; laboratory or comparable industry experience.
* Mechanical Testing.
* Chemical Analysis.
* Corrosion Testing.
* Ability to work independently in the field of Materials Engineering.
* Excellent written and verbal communication to convey technical information clearly.
