Senior Production Planner Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Package: £47,440 - £52,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Let us introduce the role AWE is currently recruiting for an Senior Production Planner for the Operations Group This role is ideally suited to a highly organized and strategic individual with strong leadership skills and a keen ability to balance complex operational demands. The perfect candidate will be skilled in managing production planning, ensuring that customer requirements are met within required timelines. A forward-thinking approach to long-range forecasting is essential, allowing for realistic programme demand planning. Additionally, the role requires a commitment to high standards in safety, security, and quality, alongside effective collaboration within the broader operational framework. Strong decision-making, problem-solving capabilities, and experience in overseeing production planning processes are key attributes for success in this role. Working within the Operations Group the successful candidate will be responsible to manage risks, issues, and changes that impact delivery schedules, ensuring timely escalation and resolution. They will oversee the development and implementation of performance metrics, procedures, and systems that align with programme requirements. Collaboration is key, as they will liaise with various functions of the business to coordinate and balance production demands while ensuring governance and compliance in planning procedures. They will also serve as a deputy to the Planning Manager when needed. The role involves Visual Management board meetings, ensuring action completion, and working with internal and external customers to meet delivery timelines. Additionally, they will contribute to operational excellence by promoting continuous process improvement and forming high-performing teams. In addition to supporting the candidate must exhibit strong problem-solving skills through a 'See It, Own It, Solve It' mindset, proactively identifying obstacles and taking ownership of solutions. Finally, flexibility is essential, as they may be required to fulfill additional reasonable duties aligned with business needs, including roles such level 2 investigation roles, depending on formal agreements within their area of work. Who are we looking for? We do need you to have the following: Experience in and working knowledge of Planning tools e.g. Microsoft Planning, P6 Primavera. Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or related processes. Ability to drive high performance and implement continuous improvement/change management within the workplace. Experience to coach, train and mentor peers and new members of the planning team to build team capability and resilience. To objectively identify and analyse the impact of risks, changes and opportunities that can affect the delivery schedule, escalate risks and issues in a timely manner Able to communicate and present at various levels of the business. Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following: P6 Primavera. Operational Excellence, visual management boards. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and to work individually or part of a team You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines. Job Description Key Accountabilities: Ensuring that customer requirements are planned and released to Manufacturing and Operational activities within the timescales required. Overseeing the Balancing of demand and supply across the Production Planning Team by co-ordinating demand reviews and de-conflicting demand and capability. Manage a long range plan to enable comprehensive and realistic forecasting to meet all programme demand. Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and to be a great team player. Leading, coaching and developing a team of production planners. Key Responsibilities: Risks, Issues and Change - To objectively identify and analyse the impact of risks, changes and opportunities that can affect the delivery schedule, escalate risks and issues in a timely manner. Ensures that performance metrics, procedures, processes and systems are developed, implemented and of a quality that delivers against our Programme requirements. Liaises with other functions for clarification and coordination of balanced and de-conflicted production demands and plans. Ensures appropriate governance of planning procedures to ensure full compliance. Acts as deputy to Planning Manager when required. Coach, train and mentor peers and new members of the planning team to build team capability and resilience. Support individual performance and succession planning including internal/external recruitment. Develop and lead Visual Management board meetings ensuring all actions are being addressed. Understands the needs of internal and external customers and works with them to ensure delivery timelines. Work as part of the Tech Centre Management team to deliver production targets. Demonstrate behaviours and values that contribute to a high performing team. Promote and sponsor operational excellence and drive all actions aimed at continuous process improvement. Works effectively with others and building required relationships and interfaces to support delivery of the Programme. Provide a diverse and inclusive working environment that allows individuals to flourish and realise their potential. Work with others to form high performing teams. Responsible for undertaking other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management, including work at other places within the UK or overseas; this will be done in consultation with you, and in accordance with any requirements contained in your Contract of Employment.
