This 6 to 12-month post offers candidates the opportunity to gain experience in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) within a busy District General Hospital. Accreditation as the University Department of Critical Care Medicine was awarded in 2022 and in parallel with exceptional clinical experience, this post will also offer the exciting opportunity for dedicated time for involvement within managerial, governance and patient safety aspects of an intensive care. To facilitate this additional management and improvement opportunities the prospective candidate would work 80% of their time on the ICM rota and have 20% of their time protected for management, improvement and patient safety activities. Objectives of the fellowship would include:
* Participate in provision of ICM within the department at a resident doctor level at a level appropriate to the candidate's experience
* Be involved with organising and facilitating monthly clinical governance meetings
* Be involved within departmental strategy and development
* Attend urgent care board meetings
* Attend patient safety meetings and undertake structured judgement reviews
* Undertake an improvement project within the department aiming to elevate our standards of care
