Purpose of this role
To lead the bulk connection process with incumbents and support in the design assessment for Independent Water Networks Ltd (IWNL), modelling review and inspection of the water and wastewater distribution networks and off‑site points of supply and discharge.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate with water companies to ensure that points of connection and discharge are coordinated with designers, developers, and incumbents, and that designs and connections are to specification and appropriate, and delivered within agreed timescales.
* Provide advice and technical knowledge to respond to project delays, issues, and other challenges throughout the project delivery.
* Ensure that water, surface water, and wastewater assets are designed, installed, and maintained to industry leading standards.
* Undertake technical assessments of water and wastewater infrastructure designs, support suitable on‑site supervision, and assist with the adoption of the networks.
* Undertake water supply and wastewater modelling of proposed networks to ensure fit for purpose.
* Support the Network Adoption Manager and work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to successful adoption of assets, in accordance with current industry best practice and water and wastewater regulations.
* Support in delivering cost‑effective measures to benefit the management and operation of water and wastewater assets.
* Mitigate the risk of financial penalties being imposed by OFWAT.
* Demonstrate compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure compliance with current Water Industry Regulations, group policies, British and International standards, industry codes of practice and safety procedures.
* Seek and embrace opportunities to adopt new technologies to maximise financial and operational benefits to IWNL.
* Other duties as defined by the business that fall within the general experience scope of the individual, which may include work on behalf of other operating divisions of BUUK from time to time.
Qualifications
Hold a suitable recognised engineering or scientific qualification.
Experience / Knowledge
Project management skills associated with project delivery (at university or in employment).
Abilities / Skills
* Excellent communication skills.
* Attention to detail with good problem‑solving ability.
Desirable
* Studying a Chartered qualification programme in a suitable discipline.
* Experience in the wastewater industry in relation to below‑ground asset design and installation.
* Knowledge of current legislation, technical standards & specifications, codes of practice, and recommendations relating to water and wastewater assets.
Conditions of Employment
* Require a DBS criminal records check due to visits to customers’ homes.
* Participation in a standby rota.
* Hold a driving licence or be in the process of obtaining one.
