Warehouse Manager - Chesterfield
Reporting to the Regional Head of Logistics, the Warehouse Manager will oversee the daily operations of our newly acquired 40,000 sq ft warehouse on the outskirts of Chesterfield. Responsibilities include order fulfilment, goods in, put-away, let-down, picking, dispatch, and returns sortation. Initially, operations will run on a single shift, transitioning to two shifts in the long term.
Additional duties include:
1. Strategically manage the warehouse in line with CHH’s policies and vision.
2. Design and optimize warehouse layout for efficient space utilization.
3. Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures.
4. Ensure compliance with all warehousing, handling, and distribution legislation.
5. Maintain health, safety, hygiene, and security standards.
6. Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
7. Plan work rotas, assign tasks, and evaluate performance.
Essential skills and attributes
1. Must have proven experience as a Warehouse Manager with strong knowledge of KPIs.
2. Line management experience with a track record of developing team members.
3. Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices.
4. Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop staff.
5. IT literacy, especially spreadsheets, and familiarity with warehouse management systems.
6. Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives.
7. Understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failures or poor quality.
8. Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to meet targets and deadlines.
