About the Role
We’re looking for experienced underwriters who’re looking to make a real difference in the market, be given room to grow, and help lead the business forwards. Responsibilities
* Dealing with risks which fall outside of the typical traditional composite appetite, ensuring that we deliver speed of service and bespoke solutions.
* The role will predominantly revolve around the UW of new business submissions/proposals as opposed to renewals.
* Work closely with our experienced team to assess risk, develop bespoke insurance products, and support our clients with smart, data-driven solutions.
* Build and maintain broker relationships, supporting with social events and networking.
* Interpreting policy and endorsement wordings, as well as writing own or modifying existing wordings.
* Determine policy terms and calculating premiums in line with both in-house authority limits and each of our binding authority agreements.
* Identify cover and hazards that will impact the acceptance, pricing, or terms applicable to a risk.
* Act as a referral point for junior members of the team.
* Mentor junior team members, building their skills and keeping the firm on track for monthly and annual GWP targets.
* Positively reinforce and display our company values and to actively drive the business forward in achieving its objectives.
Qualifications
* 3+ years’ experience in property underwriting.
* Cert CII qualification holders are highly favoured.
Required Skills
* Strong understanding of the composite insurance market and a drive to continuously improve.
* Experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
* Understanding the impact of claims and risk management on the performance of a case.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
* Experience in writing high risk and hard-to-place business is desired, but not essential.
* Existing broker relationships that would support in this role are desired, but again not necessary.
Pay range and compensation package
* Base salary of 45-60K (DOE) + bonus.
