Falmouth Exeter Plus manages and delivers services at Falmouth, Penryn and Truro Campuses on behalf of Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. Working closely with the Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union (The SU) and the wider, universities partnership we support Higher Education learning and living, ensuring that the interests of all campus users are at the heart of everything we do.

We are seeking to recruit a highly organised and people-focused Student Skills Manager to join our friendly, forward thinking team. Working for both a successful creative arts University and a Russell Group University, you will manage the delivery of high-quality skills teaching and support for our students. This includes workshops, 1:1 support and the development of self-led learning materials.

In this role, you will line manage, through a matrix arrangement, a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist support in academic study skills, information and research skills, digital literacy and English language skills. You will ensure teaching and support activity is co-ordinated and sustainable, and that provision remains holistic, inclusive, and impactful, contributing to excellent student outcomes and a positive learning experience.

We are seeking someone with demonstrable experience of teaching/supporting students in Higher Education in one or more of the relevant professional specialisms: learning development/study skills, information and digital literacies, English for academic purposes.

Alongside this, you will bring excellent people management skills, with the ability to develop colleagues’ practice and uphold quality standards. A sound understanding of pedagogy in Higher Education, including in an online environment, is also essential.

The ideal candidate would have the following skills/experience:


* Experience of managing, motivating and developing others to achieve high standards
* Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance competing demands, anticipate challenges and resolve issues effectively
* Experience of developing and implementing student-centred services, using evidence to inform decision making, monitor impact and ensure quality is maintained.
* Adaptability and resilience, with a commitment to continuing improvement and innovation

This post is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent contract working across Monday-Friday. You will be required to work at our campuses at Falmouth, Penryn and Truro.

This is a fully campus based role and remote working cannot be supported.
