Overview
Core Education are working with a vibrant SEND school based in Northumberland. They are looking to recruit 3 experienced, passionate Teaching Assistants with knowledge of special educational needs to work with their students who have Autism, Asperger's or high functioning autism, Attention and concentration difficulties, Attachment Disorders and Anxiety related difficulties and those with barriers to learning. This is a very rewarding role to really help to make a difference to children's learning and development.
Role
Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Northumberland
Rate: £95 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday (38 hours per week)
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary – with permanent opportunities for the right candidates
Responsibilities
* Supporting the pupils in 1:1, in groups or in classroom situations, lunch and break times, and unstructured/social times
* Accompanying pupils on organised school visits as appropriate
* In conjunction with the SENDCo, to assist with the development of social skills and appropriate behaviour of pupils
* Participate in the development, delivery and monitoring of individual programmes
* To assist in the support of pupils who can respond with behaviour which challenges
* To assist with resolving issues which cause anxiety or emotional response in pupils
* To keep accurate records as required by the school
* To be involved in collaborative planning with teaching staff to ensure the effective use of support
* Support the delivery of the Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum map
* To support the delivery of KS4 programmes of study
* To be involved in working groups where appropriate
* To work as part of a flexible and supportive team to further the ethos of the school
* To attend weekly staff meetings and relevant INSET/CPD events
Qualifications / Experience
* Relevant experience in a similar environment with SEND or hold teaching assistant/appropriate qualifications
* Have worked with children or adults within an educational establishment previously
* Holding appropriate academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard, professional qualifications to at least NVQ level 2, or demonstrate competency through proven experience
* Basic first aid knowledge
* Teaching Assistant experience and ability to support vulnerable pupils
* Teaching Assistant qualification or experience working in a school or college supporting students
* Ability to work on own initiative with a high level of accuracy and maintain clear, neat records
* Good time management and flexible use of time to meet post demands
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to operate as a member of a busy team
* Strong oral and written communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues
* Willingness to undertake relevant training to enhance personal development and benefit the school
* Knowledge of child development and understanding of how children learn to read is advantageous
* Knowledge of ACES or how childhood trauma can affect individuals is beneficial; training will be provided
* Due to location, applicants must have access to a vehicle and hold a full driving licence
* Child DBS on update service or willingness to obtain one
