Production Supervisor – Aggregates

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Aggregates team at Brayford Quarry. This is a key operational role, working closely with the Site Manager to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant day‑to‑day running of the quarry.
You'll play a pivotal part in leading site operations, setting high standards for health & safety, quality, production performance and customer service, while supporting the wider team to deliver a reliable, high‑quality aggregates operation.
The Role
As Production Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising quarry production activities and supporting the Site Manager in achieving operational, safety and commercial objectives. This is a hands‑on supervisory position with real accountability and influence on site performance.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
* Ensure all operations under your control comply with statutory legislation, the Company Safety Policy and the Heidelberg Materials Safety, Health & Environment Management System
* Assist the Site Manager in embedding and maintaining safe systems of work and site procedures
* Lead by example, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring appropriate use of PPE and safety equipment
* Hold the appointment under Section 8 (1)(d) of the Quarries Regulations 1999
* Complete daily inspections and audits, taking action where required
* Support the control and monitoring of contractors on site, including plant inspections and adherence to approved RAMS
* Ensure weekly geotechnical inspections are carried out and recorded
Operational & General Management
* Assist with the purchase of spares, materials and services, ensuring cost‑effective operation
* Support the Site Manager with period‑end profit estimations, including:
o Stock returns
o Production and breakdown analysis
o Expenditure and performance summaries
* Maintain accurate maintenance and servicing records and ensure repairs are completed to plan
* Foster strong communication and working relationships across the site team
* Identify training needs and ensure new starters receive robust induction and role‑specific training
* Support fraud prevention measures
* Maintain positive relationships with neighbours and escalate any complaints appropriately
* Ensure all land, roads, buildings and site areas are kept in good order, with high standards of housekeeping
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Current First Aid Certificate
* IQ DAPS qualification
* Strong supervisory experience within a quarry or aggregates environment
* A proactive, safety‑first mindset with the confidence to lead on site
Desirable
* NVQ Level 4 in Health, Safety and Environmental Management in Quarries
