Job Overview

C4 Head and Neck Ward at Poole Hospital cares for elective and emergency ENT (ear, nose and throat) and maxillofacial patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who has an interest in caring for head and neck patients and would like to join our friendly, dynamic team. The successful candidate will work with the nursing team providing care in both a ward and a clinic environment on the ward. They will also work in the two emergency treatment rooms (ambulatory care) and SDEC (same day emergency care), supporting the Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinicians. The post will include a role in the treatment rooms, ensuring stock and equipment is available to use, instruments are prepared, scopes are processed appropriately, clinic lists are managed, and patients admissions are completed. The role will also include advanced skills such as complex airway care (tracheostomies and laryngectomies), taking ECGs, cannulation, venepuncture, wound management, administrating enteral feeds, and providing patient training and education. Training will be provided for the successful candidate and support will be given to work through required competencies. This post is being advertised as a Band 3, however applicants that do not meet the required care certificate competencies will initially be employed as a Band 2. Applicants who hold a care certificate accreditation will start in post at Band 3. As part of the interview process you will be asked to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment.

Qualifications/Training


Essential criteria

* Completion of care certification or willing to complete care certificate


Desirable criteria

* NVQ or equivalent at level 2 in health care


Experience

* Experience of band 2 hospital/ward work
* Experience of working with the public
* Experience of working in a care environment
