This is a 2-year fixed term contract. Due to the promotion of the current post holder an opportunity has arisen with our Substance Misuse Team, which is part of our Neighbourhood Adult Community Teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work in this specialist field.
About the Role
This is an important leadership role, working with adults who have substance issues and/or have alcohol issues. We have adopted the Newcastle 3 Conversations approach and are committed to delivering services and opportunities for people at a neighbourhood level. The team works with some of the most complex and challenging people. Skills and experience in applying the Mental Capacity Act along with Safeguarding procedures is a must. As Team Manager, you’ll oversee a skilled team comprising of a Senior Practitioner and Social Workers. You will also be responsible for a small team of Community Connectors – this is a trial project where we work with people collaboratively to link in with any community resources and services.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Leading and supporting the team to deliver high-quality, person-centred responses
* Embedding strengths-based and preventative approaches
* Working within a statutory framework including the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
* Chairing and leading on safeguarding strategy meetings
* Working closely with our neighbourhood social work teams, prevention services as well as partners across health, housing, and community services. This will include management cover for the Duty rota and cover for other managers leave within the wider Adult Community Team.
* Overseeing the Community Connector Project

You must have a relevant Social Work qualification such as a Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or CSS, or equivalent and Social Work England registration.
