We are seeking a proactive and organised Executive Officer (EO) to support the implementation of a new, high-profile function: setting standards for the insolvency profession on behalf of the Secretary of State. You will also play a key role in supporting the wider work of the Insolvency Practitioner Regulation Section (IPRS), including operational and administrative tasks.

Insolvency Practitioner Regulation Section (IPRS) offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in insolvency and regulation, while supporting the delivery of key regulatory functions and strengthening stakeholder engagement across the sector.

IPRS sits within the Strategy, Policy and Analysis (SPA) directorate of the Insolvency Service. Acting on behalf of Ministers, we serve as the oversight regulator for the insolvency profession. Our work is guided by statutory objectives, and we work closely with commercial regulators to raise standards and respond to issues across the insolvency sector. Our powers include issuing sanctions against regulators for poor performance.


What We Do

As part of IPRS, you’ll contribute to a wide range of regulatory and operational functions, including:

* Monitoring the performance of the Recognised Professional Bodies (RPBs) that licence and regulate insolvency practitioners, ensuring compliance with statutory objectives and common standards
* Supporting the development of regulatory policy and collaborative efforts across the insolvency community
* Managing public and Ministerial correspondence, including operating a vital complaints gateway for members of the public
* Providing guidance to the insolvency profession on law and practice
* Chairing and contributing to external forums and committees, helping shape the strategic direction of insolvency regulation and amplify our influence across the sector

Responsibilities

This is an exciting time to join IPRS. You’ll work closely with colleagues at all levels, including the SEO project lead and HEO Standards Development Officer, and interact with stakeholders across the Insolvency Service, other regulators, enforcement bodies, and industry representatives.

Standard Setting Workstream:

* Support the HEO and SEO project lead in developing and maintaining documentation for the standard setting function.
* Assist with research and information gathering to inform decisions on standards.
* Help coordinate responses to public and Ministerial correspondence.

Operational & Administrative Support:

* Assist in the collation, publication, and maintenance of statistics, sanctions, governance & corporate documents, and meeting minutes.
* Responsibility for the IPRS workplan.
* Support the organisation of meetings, workshops, and consultations with insolvency practitioners and stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of decisions, feedback, and implementation progress.
* Ensuring IPRS compliance with retention policies and procedures.
* Support the development and maintenance of internal guidance and training materials.
