Your new role
You will play a vital role in maintainingmunity cleanliness and public health by collecting and disposing of household,mercial, or industrial waste and recyclable materials. Key Responsibilities
1. Waste Collection: Collect refuse or recyclable materials from curbside bins, sacks, or other containers in residential,mercial, or industrial locations and load them into waste collection vehicles (, garbage trucks).
2. Operating Equipment: Assist in operating hoisting devices orpactors on collection trucks to load and process waste.
3. Route Assistance: Work as part of a team, often riding on the back of a garbage truck, directing drivers in traffic or at disposal sites, and ensuring timely collection along designated routes.
4. Safety and Maintenance: Check vehicles and equipment for safety and operational conditions, perform minor servicing, and report maintenance issues. Adhere to safety and environmental regulations to prevent contamination or accidents.
5. Recycling and Sorting: Sort recyclable materials (, paper, plastic, glass, metal) at collection points or depots, checking for contamination (, organic waste) to ensure proper recycling.
6. Customer Interaction: Engage withmunity members to promote waste reduction and recycling initiatives or address service-related concerns.
7. Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of waste collection areas, replace waste bags, and ensure bins are tidy and properly placed.
8. Hazardous Waste Handling: In some roles, assist with the safe disposal of hazardous materials, following strict regulations.
