King’s College London is a world-leading multi-campus university, wholly committed to education, research, and service to society. Our evolving Strategy 2030 places emphasis on academic excellence, compelling student value, and long-term sustainability. We are now looking to appoint an experienced Executive Director leading university-wide project and programme portfolio delivery, a role pivotal to achieving our ambitious strategy.
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President and assuming portfolio oversight of critical strategic initiatives, the Executive Director will act as a central integrator across King’s-wide activity, providing assurance that our portfolio of programmes align with university objectives, progress as planned, and deliver measurable and on-target outcomes. The postholder will lead the central Portfolio Office, with responsibilities for portfolio governance, and will monitor and support strategic programs delivery through robust data and performance insight, risk management, and benefits realisation.
The Executive Director will work in partnership with academic and professional services leadership, including programme sponsors, to interpret complex data, resolve risks, and maintain delivery momentum. The postholder will provide high-quality, timely analysis, reporting progress to the Vice-Chancellor, the executive team, and to university Council, providing confidence in the university’s ability to deliver.
We are seeking an experienced Executive Director who can bring notable strategic portfolio management expertise including robust performance monitoring and reporting to guide executive decision-making. Excellent judgement and the ability to network and influence across a complex multi-stakeholder, multi-site environment is essential. Requiring a significant degree of flexibility and political awareness, the Executive Director will have proven experience of working closely with a Chief Executive, Vice-Chancellor or equivalent.
This is a rare opportunity to shape portfolio delivery of one of the world’s leading universities from the heart of a Vice-Chancellor’s Office. If you are motivated by the opportunity to hold a central role in delivering institutional success and impact, we would be delighted to hear from you.
