Community Safety Officer
Fixed Term Contract to 31/3/27 (may be extended for 12 months subject to funding).
Role will be based in Wirral Council’s 24‑hour/365‑day Emergency Control Centre (ECC) and will involve:
* Proactively monitoring the council’s expanding CCTV network and responding to Emergency Help Point activations.
* Responding to fire and intruder alarm activations in council buildings, monitoring lone workers, and handling calls for the council’s emergency duty social care teams outside office hours.
* Acting as the single out‑of‑hours point of contact for public safety matters and activation of emergency plans.
* Deploying to public safety incidents, including anti‑social behaviour and crime locations, and operating a CCTV van.
* Auditing public rescue equipment, water safety signage and providing security presence at council meetings.
* Engaging with local communities to provide reassurance, advice and guidance.
Work closely with internal colleagues and external partners including Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and HM Coastguard.
Requirements:
* Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence for Public Space Surveillance (CCTV operation) and Security Guarding/Door Supervisor. Training will be provided if not already obtained.
* Valid driving licence.
* Enhanced DBS and Non‑Police Personnel Level 2 clearance.
Shift pattern: Full rota covering day, afternoon/evening and night shifts.
