The Department
The Institute for Medical Humanities is expanding its team with a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work across the Affective Experience Lab and the Measurement Lab, part of the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities, funded by Wellcome. The platform aims to innovate research on health and wellbeing, especially at the intersection of mental health and health inequalities.
The Affective Experience Lab explores the relationship between emotion and health using arts, humanities, and social science methodologies. The Measurement Lab investigates historical, political, and philosophical aspects of measurement in medical contexts.
The Role
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop a project examining affective experience and measurement in medical contexts. We welcome applicants from various disciplines, especially those with expertise in History, Psychology, or Sociology, and qualitative or archival research methods. The successful candidate's department will be chosen based on best fit.
The role involves designing and conducting research, participating in lab activities, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the research culture. It offers opportunities for career development and to produce high-quality academic and other outputs.
Responsibilities include preparing presentations, publishing research, developing proposals, conducting projects, collaborating with colleagues, managing research activities, and supporting the research environment.
This is a fixed-term position for three years, with funding from the Discovery Research Platform. The start date is ideally 1 September 2025.
