Probation Officer
Location: Crewe, Cheshire
Pay: £28.63 ltd per hour (umbrella rate) or £20.30 per hour PAYE equivalent
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Probation Officer, you will manage a varied caseload and work closely with individuals on community sentences or licences following release from custody.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supervising individuals on probation and monitoring compliance with court orders and licence conditions
Assessing risk and developing personalised sentence plans to support rehabilitation
Delivering or coordinating interventions to reduce reoffending
Preparing professional reports and recommendations for the courts
Working with partner agencies to support rehabilitation and manage risk
Supporting individuals to access services such as housing, employment, education, and health supportYou’ll work closely with professionals across the justice and support sectors to create safer communities.

Essential:
A degree in criminology, community justice, social work, or a related field
OR a recognised probation qualification such as the Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to assess risk and make sound professional decisions
Confidence working with individuals who may present complex needs or challenging behaviourDesirable:
Experience within probation, criminal justice, social care, or related services
Knowledge of safeguarding and multi-agency working
