8B Principal Applied Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling/Forensic)
22.5 hours
We are seeking an experienced practitioner psychologist to work within and support the older people's inpatient ward, which includes mixed mental health and organic conditions.
The wider older people’s psychology team has recently received significant investment, making this an exciting time to join RDASH. We are looking for a resilient, reflective, and enthusiastic applied psychologist with experience in inpatient services and a keen interest in supporting the integration of psychology within the older people’s pathway.
Your role will involve assessing and formulating cases, providing training, delivering interventions, supporting others in intervention plans, and promoting the development of Clinical Psychology. You will work alongside the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and share supervision responsibilities within the older adult’s psychology team where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide psychological assessment of complex mental health and/or organic conditions, interpreting data from various sources.
2. Deliver specialist formulations, care, and treatment plans for inpatient clients with complex psychological, mental health, trauma, or cognitive impairment conditions, ensuring professional practice standards.
3. Supervise junior psychologists and provide training, formulation sharing, consultancy, and reflective practice to non-psychological colleagues across the MDT ward team.
4. Meet the needs of clients, their carers, and families with compassion.
5. Where appropriate, undertake formal research or service evaluations and act as a field supervisor for doctorate clinical psychology trainees.
6. Proactively contribute to service improvements focusing on older adult needs and pathways.
7. Promote a positive image of people with mental health difficulties, the psychology service, and the wider Trust at all times.
Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) employs around 3,700 colleagues who are valued and respected.
