Control Room Operator
External: (6 - 9 month position but could be made permanent)
Internal: (6 - 9 month secondment position)
At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS), we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers’ journeys to a low carbon future. In Centrica Energy Assets (CEA) within CBS, we are building a 1GW portfolio of flexible energy generation assets including solar, battery, and hydrogen ready peaking plants to help drive the transition to Net Zero.
We have an exciting cross-training opportunity for anyone looking to expand their operational knowledge of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), ICS (Industrial Control Systems), and surrounding OT (Operational Technology) Cyber Security.
The opportunity has been created as one of our Control Room Operators is due to go on maternity for 6-9 months. The Control Room is based in Windsor and we can be flexible on shift working patterns; we are currently running a 12hr shift pattern, with 3 shifts a week.
A Control Room Operator is required for a key role in our Energy & Controls Centre, which forms part of the O&M function of the UK & I business. The role focuses on data captured from a range of remote assets including Building Energy Management System (BEMS), Combined Heat and Power units (CHP), Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP), solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations.
The Control Room Operator role would suit a candidate who possesses the skills necessary to effectively interpret data from multiple sources, react promptly to event notifications, and follow established procedures to rectify and escalate issues, in line with contractual obligations. Whilst on duty, the Control Room Operator, often working alone, is responsible for taking initiative and making decisions; he/she plays a key role in limiting our financial exposure related to unplanned outages. Use of common Windows software will be required daily.
