Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newport
Start Date: 2nd September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-15:30
We are looking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil that had additional learning needs. The pupil has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) so you will be the pupils main point of support throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone who is nurturing, patient, adaptable and committed to creating a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing tailored support to the pupil throughout all areas of the curriculum
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Work closely with the class teacher to ensure the pupil is achieving development targets and is reaching their full potential
- Create a safe learning environment where the pupil feels valued
- Supervise the pupil at all times
- Work with the pupil in small groups to encourage social development skills
- Support the pupil with their emotional and social skills
What we're looking for
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs - this can vary from school based experience to support work, youth work etc.
- A patient, empathetic and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs
Essential Requirements
- DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council
- 2 Professional References
