In this role, you’ll provide specialist radiological advice across the site, supporting projects and programmes with detailed risk assessments, compliance documentation and ALARP strategies.
You’ll play a key part in developing and implementing new radiological protection practices, commissioning advanced equipment and ensuring work instructions meet the highest safety standards. Your expertise will guide critical decisions, from reviewing safety cases to advising on PPE and waste management, while liaising with regulators and inspectors to maintain best‑in‑class performance.
This is more than a technical role, it’s an opportunity to influence the future of nuclear safety and sustainability. You’ll contribute to the training of junior Radiological Protection Engineers, continuous improvement across the site and emergency preparedness, all while working in a collaborative environment that values your growth and impact.
What You Bring
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong foundation in radiological protection and compliance. Your expertise should include a detailed understanding of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, ensuring you can provide authoritative guidance on compliance and best practice.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with practical experience. You’ll have worked in specialist roles and ideally within a nuclear site environment, applying your skills to complex challenges.
Accreditation as a Health Physicist is essential and if you’re already a Radiation Protection Adviser, that’s a strong advantage. This is a role where your insight and leadership will make a tangible difference on a site at the forefront of NRS’s mission.
