Design Manager – Structural Remedial & Fit-Out Works
Residential High-Rise Project | Tier 1 Main Contractor
A Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a major residential tower project currently undergoing structural remediation works. This is a technically demanding role with a strong focus on managing fit-out updates and interfaces arising from structural remedial requirements.
The Project
* High-rise residential tower
* Live structural remediation program
* Complex coordination between permanent works, remedial design, and fit-out revisions
* Multi-disciplinary stakeholder environment including consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives
The Role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating design activities related to structural remedial works and ensuring downstream fit-out designs are accurately updated, coordinated, and buildable.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing and coordinating structural remedial design information in collaboration with structural engineers and specialist consultants
* Reviewing and implementing fit-out design updates driven by structural remediation outcomes
* Ensuring alignment between remedial works, architectural intent, and services coordination
* Managing design risks, constructability issues, and design change impacts
* Leading design workshops and technical coordination meetings
* Reviewing shop drawings, technical submissions, and design deliverables for compliance
* Acting as the key interface between construction, design consultants, and the client
* Supporting the construction team with timely, clear, and coordinated design information
About You
You will be a technically strong Design Manager with proven experience in complex remedial or refurbishment environments.
Key requirements:
* Background in architecture, structural engineering, or construction management
* Demonstrated experience managing structural remedial or retrofit works, ideally in high-rise residential projects
* Strong understanding of fit-out design and the impact of structural changes on architectural and services coordination
* Experience working with Tier 1 contractors on large, complex projects
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Ability to manage design change in a live construction environment
