Kingston GP Chambers, the GP federation supporting twenty member practices across Kingston, is pleased to support Sunray Surgery in recruiting a new practice nurse.

Sunray Surgery was acquired by Kingston GP Chambers on 1st April 2023. It serves over 5,000 registered patients and is located near Tolworth station and the A3. The practice plans to expand following local redevelopment and offers on-site and nearby free parking, as well as bike storage.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled nurse to join our clinical team. The role offers flexible hours depending on the candidate's availability. This position is open to qualified practice nurses, with support available for those new to practice nursing to achieve their qualification.


Main Duties of the Job

Overall Job Responsibilities:

* Provide high-standard patient care using autonomous clinical skills and broad theoretical knowledge.
* Address patient needs in a primary care setting, ensuring access and patient choice.
* Promote healthy lifestyles and participate in immunisation and screening programs.
* Assist patients in managing long-term health conditions and promote independence.
* Encourage health promotion during routine procedures like health checks and screenings.
* Communicate complex information effectively to patients and relatives, motivating positive health behaviors.
* Collaborate with nursing, medical, and healthcare assistant colleagues to meet national standards.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Undertake clinical duties with appropriate training in areas such as:

* Adult and paediatric immunisations
* Smears
* Chronic condition management
* Dressings and stitch removal

Kingston GP Chambers is a federation of NHS practices within Kingston upon Thames, founded in 2008. Led by GP partners, we work with secondary care and private providers, offering community clinics and extended hours services to improve patient access and care.

We aim to grow as a provider of community and urgent care services, supporting the role of general practice within the NHS.


Job Responsibilities

Supporting Sunray Surgery's commitment to excellent patient care for over 5,000 patients, located conveniently in Tolworth with good transport links. We seek a motivated nurse to join our team, open to those transitioning from secondary care or established practice nurses.

Overall Job Responsibilities:

* Deliver high-quality patient care with autonomous clinical skills.
* Respond effectively to patient needs, ensuring access and choice.
* Promote health and participate in immunisation and screening programs.
* Support patients in managing long-term conditions and promote independence.
* Provide health promotion during routine screenings.
* Communicate complex information clearly and motivate patients.
* Work with the team to deliver national standards.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Perform clinical duties with relevant training, including:

* Immunisations
* Smears
* Chronic disease management
* Dressing and stitch removal

Person Specification:

* Registered General Nurse with NMC registration.
* Proven ability to evaluate clinical practice safety and effectiveness.
* Effective risk assessment and management skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and build relationships.
* IT skills, with EMIS experience preferred.

This role offers growth opportunities within primary care. The minimum commitment is one day per week, with additional hours available. Applicants should reside within a reasonable commute; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

* Registered General Nurse (NMC registered)
* Qualification in cytology and/or family planning preferred


Experience

* Experience in community or primary care
* Continuing professional development
* Experience across organisational boundaries and in immunisations and chronic disease management


Knowledge and Skills

* Understanding of NMC Code and legal issues such as data protection
* Knowledge of NHS primary care structure
* Audit skills


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a DBS check, and applicants must not have any relevant criminal convictions. Salary depends on experience.
