Overview

Responsibilities
* Secure sustainable funding and shape strategy to guide the organisation.
* Provide support and expertise to embed strategy and develop metrics using data-driven insights to assess waste crime and intervention effectiveness.
* Advise and influence Defra to ensure effective powers and legislation to stop offending.
* Provide leadership on strategic communications and external engagement to deter waste crime and deliver accurate information to diverse audiences.
* Take a lead role in reviewing the Strategy to Reduce Offending in the Waste Sector and translate strategy into action across the organisation.
* Engage extensively with internal and external stakeholders (including Defra, industry and operational teams) to shape strategy and ensure it is evidence-based.
* Develop control plans to translate strategy into meaningful action, and utilise data to ground the strategy in evidence.
* Work collaboratively within the Waste Crime Team and the wider Waste and Resources Regulation department, adapting to a range of priorities and challenges.
Experience / Skills Required
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners in dispersed and external networks.
* Skilled at persuading others and influencing outcomes at senior levels.
* Confidence to challenge current methods and develop solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Enthusiastic, well-organised, and tenacious with the ability to move work forward quickly.
* Clear communicator who brings out the best in people.
* Track record of achieving results and experience in planning, managing, and delivering to tight deadlines.
* Ability to re-evaluate ways of working to enable effective delivery.
* Previous experience in regulation and/or enforcement and a broad understanding of the waste industry.
* Awareness of strategic landscape challenges in tackling crime in the waste sector.
Additional Information
You’ll have an EA Office base location; as a national role the working location is flexible / hybrid. Some travel and overnights may be required. Training will be provided.
