Painter/Prepper – Premium Finishes

This is hands-on craftsmanship, not production-line painting, where quality genuinely matters.
This Painter/Prepper position sits at the core of a specialist finishing operation delivering premium, design-led surfaces for architectural, interior, and bespoke projects. You’ll be responsible for preparing substrates and applying paint and specialist coatings to an exceptionally high visual standard, taking full ownership of finish quality from prep through to final inspection. This role is ideal for a Painter/Prepper who values precision, consistency, and seeing their work used on high-end projects rather than standardised outputs.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare walls, panels, furniture, and components through sanding, filling, levelling, masking, and priming
Assess substrates and select appropriate preparation methods and materials
Repair surface imperfections to achieve smooth, flawless finishes
Maintain strict cleanliness and dust control throughout preparation stages
Apply paints and specialist finishes using spray, roller, and hand application techniques
Mix and prepare coatings accurately to specification
Apply multi-layer systems including primers, base coats, and top coats
Maintain consistency of colour, texture, and finish across samples and final works
Inspect completed work and carry out snagging or refinishing where required
Work to visual mock-ups, samples, and approved finish standards
Support installation and finishing work on-site when required
Handle, protect, and pack finished items correctly
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Painter / Prepper, finisher, or decorative applicator
Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques across varied substrates
High attention to detail with genuine pride in workmanship
Ability to follow specifications, samples, and visual references accurately
Strong manual skills with practical problem-solving ability
Experience with decorative, specialist, or architectural finishes preferred
Experience working with plaster, MDF, metal, concrete, or similar materials beneficial
Previous workshop and or site-based experience advantageous
CSCS card beneficial but not essential
Pay and Benefits
Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience
Full-time hours Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm
Occasional overtime and site work depending on project requirements
