Role Overview
The Stamping & Tooling Lead Engineer reports to the Forward Programme Planning Manager, influencing product designs and engineering. You will develop business solutions, generate initial programme inputs, and liaise with the GME Stamping organisation and other functions within the Body-In-White Enterprise, including Design Studio, Product Engineering, GME, MP&L, and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as the programme interface for Product Engineering & Design during early product creation phases, providing initial concept feasibility support.
2. Serve as the technical contact for all enquiries from JLR Design, Product Engineering & Engineering Service Providers, offering feasibility responses for new programmes.
3. Provide status updates on CAD progression and part feasibility to the programme planner.
4. Outline initial concept processes and materials for costing and RFQ purposes, maintaining details within the parts feasibility tracker.
5. Arrange and conduct feasibility gateway events following EQAP+ procedures.
6. Generate geometry modification requests via e-Trackers, FCRs, JIRA, and AIMs systems to control feasibility requirements.
7. Collaborate with Technical Specialists to support investigations that deliver programme targets for CAPEX, Quality, Material, and Performance.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proficiency in CAD (Catia V5 & V6 preferred)
* Understanding of Stamping Forming guidelines & principles (BoD & BoP)
* Forming Simulation capabilities
* Effective presentation skills across all leadership levels
* Strong problem-solving skills
